Ramps, Arrows, and a little bit of heat

Is it possible to predict the future? While there have been attempts, and some really good ones at that, the short and simple answer is no, not really. . So if we don't know exactly what the future holds, How is it possible to design for the future?  The truth is, Architects, Designers, and students like the ones on this blog have a unique opportunity that many other professions don't.  While we may not be able design for a future we don' t know we have the ability to influence the future by the designs we create. Therefore it becomes less about how our designs react to the future and more about how the future can react to our designs.  This leads to one main question, What if? What if our designs were able to create a new type of context in which the existing city transformed around? What if our designs were able to move and grow as time passed.  The content below provides just a spinet of the infinite possibilities the future can hold.  An array of ramps that never directly defines a program but rather implies many different opportunities.  How those ramps spread down, in this case the existing railroad tracks, and effect and reach out to existing context.  Are these ideas or any contained in this blog the future of  Knoxville. Maybe they are, maybe not, Either way the ideas created allow infinite possibilities.
